Well-being by light

Most people feel more energetic and fit during the bright and sunny summer season when they’re outdoors enjoying natural light. Both sunshine and daylight have a positive effect on us. When we are exposed to the right type of light, it helps to align our daily rhythm or wake up more easily. With this in mind, Philips has developed a complete range of light therapy products that boost your energy by using the unique health benefits light offers.

How does the Philips Wake-up Light work?

Soft rising light wakes you gently

Starting half an hour before your set wake up time, the Wake-up Light gradually fills your room with bright light like a rising sun emitting natural light. The light gently prepares your body for waking up while you are still asleep. So, if the wake up time is set at 7 am, the light will gradually get stronger starting at 6:30. At 7 am the light has reached its highest level, which you can adjust to your personal preference. Choose up to 20 different brightness settings that allow you to use it as a bed lamp as well.

At the set wake up time, your body is ready to wake up and natural sounds will gradually accompany the light. You will wake up feeling fresh.

How does light therapy work?

The light must touch your eyes, but you don’t need to stare at it directly. So, you can use EnergyLight or goLITE BLU to fight low energy levels while eating, working or watching TV. Avoid ‘light baths’ late at night as your sleep might be disrupted.

Use one of these restorative Phlips products and the benefits can be apparent after a few days.

Philips goLITE BLU

When to use light therapy?

In countries with long winters, many people experience loss of energy and low spirits due to lack of light. It’s known as the winter blues or seasonal affective disorder (s.a.d.). Exposure to a ‘light bath’ received from a Philips EnergyLight can restore the wellbeing and energy levels that you feel in summer.

Do you experience energy dips in the morning, after lunch or in the afternoon? The Philips goLITE BLU can help you to feel alert when you need to. Simply use the goLITE BLU up to 20 minutes to get your natural energy boost when you need it!

Traveling between time zones can cause sleep difficulties or lack of alertness during your day. Recent science has shown that the type of light found in the Philips goLITE BLU can help you to adjust to a different time zone or feel alert when you need to. Prepare for you next trip with the jet lag calculator.

Blue or white light therapy?

The Philips EnergyLight and the Philips goLITE BLU light therapy products both help to fight the winter blues and seasonal affective disorder (s.a.d.).

Some people love the 10.000 lux white EnergyLight. It is used in traditional light therapy for more than 25 years and it brings the sunshine into your home.

Others prefer the compact and portable goLITE BLU with the light from the blue summer sky. Used at home or at work, it can help you to overcome those afternoon energy dips in just 20 minutes.

Testimonials
Jeff Major

Thank you so much for making such an excellent product. It sits right on my desk at work, where I can use it without any trouble during my workday. I can tell I am sleeping better and feel far less exhausted in the evenings. We've had a very gray winter and this has completely snapped me out of the doldrums. Thanks again.

Bernie Cherak

Very easy to use and the results from using the device are impressive even after a short time.

Erica Skyrman

Love the portability. I've been able to take it out of the house and show it to 3 friends.

Jeannie Locatelli

The winter 'veil' lifted the first time I used it. My energy level has improved and my appetite has gone away. I have no cravings at all. I need to be careful not to use it after 5:00 p.m. I use it once in the morning for 15 minutes and once in the afternoon for 15 -20 minutes.

The Snoozer

The Snoozer always wants a few more minutes. For what? To fall back to sleep? What's an extra five going to achieve? It's now or never, Snoozer!

The Grump

Wakes up on the wrong side of the bed and lets EVERYONE know about it. Avoid at all costs until 10am. Very nice in the afternoons, though.

The Grunter

Can only communicate in a series of caveman grunts. Actual words need at least two cups of coffee.

The Zombie

Talk about Dawn of the Dead. This one may be up, but it shuffles around without a functioning brain. Only a shot of coffee to the head will stop it.

The Corpse

The Corpse never seems to hear the alarm. Shake him, shout at him, play music down his ear. It won't matter. He's a deadweight.

The Early Bird

First out of bed, first to the gym, and first one at work. Never gets stuck in traffic, because the traffic isn't up yet.

The Chirpy

So positive and full of energy in the morning, there must be something wrong with them. Whey they say 'Good morning!!!' you can hear the exclamation marks.

Do you know someone who is not a morning person?

Do you live with someone who struggles to get up in the morning? Who needs at least five coffees before they feel awake? If so, they could be one of the people we are looking for.
