How to change or reset the PIN code on the TV? (2k17)

    Published on 2017-10-04

    Situation

The TV asks for a four-digit PIN code in one of the following situations:
    ● when reinstalling the channels
    ● when changing settings in the TV menu
    ● when selecting an app or TV channel.

    Answer

A PIN code is required to access certain TV functions and settings when the parental rating function is activated.

To remove the child lock for apps and settings

    proceed as follows:
    ● Press the “Home” button on the remote of the TV and select:
[Settings] > [Child lock] > [Parental Rating]
    Or
Press the “Settings” button on the remote of the TV and select:
[All settings] > [Child lock] > [Parental Rating]

The parental rating option can be set to [None] if no child lock is needed.

    18+ channels

Additionally, certain (18+) channels are locked by the provider by default (according to 2017 M7 certification requirements). These channels can only be accessed with the selected PIN code (during installation) or by entering the code “8888”. This channel lock cannot be removed or deactivated

reset the TV’s PIN code and remove the child lock

    proceed as follows:
    ● Press the “Home” button on the remote of the TV and select:
    [Settings] > [Child-lock] > [Change code / Set code]
    Or
Press the “Settings” button on the remote of the TV and select:
[All settings] > [Child lock] > [Change code / Set code]
    ● Enter the old code if the PIN code has already been set before.
    ● Enter the new code.
    ● Enter the new code again to confirm.

The parental rating PIN code has now been changed to the new PIN.

    ● In the same menu, select [Parental Rating] > [None]. The TV will ask once more for the four-digit PIN code. Enter the new code from the previous step.

What to do if the PIN cannot be changed?

In case of loss of the PIN code, the code “8888” can be entered instead in the [Change code] option in order to choose a new code.

If the PIN code can not be overwritten by “8888” reinstall the TV to reset all previously selected settings.

    How to reinstall the TV?
Press the “Home” button on the remote control, scroll down and select:
[Settings] > [General settings > [Reinstall TV].
    Or
Press the “Settings” button on the remote of the TV and select:
    • [All Settings] > [General settings] > [Reinstall TV].

Note: In general, Philips TVs are equipped with only one PIN Code (parental rating). If the parental rating is not activated but the TV still asks to enter a PIN, this PIN code might be:
    ● a PIN code for a the CAM module
    ● a PIN code for an external device

These PIN codes are not related to the TV. Contact the broadcast provider for further support.
